Otterbein's is Baltimore's original thin-and-crispy cookie, baked to the same recipe since 1881. Chocolate chip, sugar, lemon, and more, each one snapped thin and baked crisp. A local institution with more than 140 years of loyalty behind it.
It is a heritage brand with real equity and a story most cookie startups would give anything to have. The opportunity is to take that legacy direct to consumers, nationally, without losing what made it matter for generations.
The Challenge
Otterbein's has 140 years of brand equity and a devoted regional following, but its direct-to-consumer engine is being built now. The work is to translate a beloved local brand into a national DTC business. A Shopify foundation that carries the heritage without feeling dated. Email and retention that turn first-time buyers into repeat households. And a paid social motion that introduces the brand to new markets while protecting the margins a legacy food business runs on.
